Voice হলো একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ব্যাকরণগত বিষয়, যা বাক্যের subject এবং verb-এর মধ্যকার সম্পর্ককে নির্দেশ করে। Voice সাধারণত দুটি প্রকারের হয়: Active Voice এবং Passive Voice। প্রতিটি প্রকারের ব্যবহারের নির্দিষ্ট নিয়ম এবং উদাহরণ রয়েছে, যা একজন ভাষা শিক্ষার্থী বা ESL/ELT প্রফেশনালের জন্য জানা অত্যন্ত জরুরি।

1. Active Voice (সক্রিয় বাক্য)

Active Voice-এ বাক্যের subject নিজেই action সম্পাদন করে। অর্থাৎ, বাক্যের কাজটি subject দ্বারা সরাসরি সম্পন্ন হয়। উদাহরণস্বরূপ:
– Example: “TalentHut conducts IELTS preparation classes.”
– এখানে ‘TalentHut‘ হলো subject এবং ‘conducts’ হলো verb। বাক্যটি Active Voice-এ আছে, কারণ TalentHut নিজেই action (conducting) সম্পাদন করছে।

Active Voice-এর ব্যবহার:
– সাধারণত যখন আমরা action কে বেশি গুরুত্ব দিতে চাই এবং এটি subject-এর মাধ্যমে সম্পাদিত হয়, তখন Active Voice ব্যবহার করা হয়।
– Example: “The teacher explains the lesson.”
– এখানে শিক্ষক (subject) নিজেই পাঠটি বোঝাচ্ছেন।

2. Passive Voice (নিষ্ক্রিয় বাক্য)

Passive Voice-এ বাক্যের action-এর receiver বা object subject হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় এবং মূল subject কে ‘by’ প্রিপোজিশনের মাধ্যমে বাক্যে উল্লেখ করা হয়। অর্থাৎ, action টি object দ্বারা গৃহীত হয়।
– Example: “IELTS preparation classes are conducted by TalentHut.”
– এখানে ‘IELTS preparation classes’ হলো subject, কিন্তু আসলে কাজটি করছে ‘TalentHut’। তাই বাক্যটি Passive Voice-এ আছে।

Passive Voice-এর ব্যবহার:
– যখন action বা action-এর receiver কে গুরুত্ব দিতে চাই এবং action কে কারা সম্পাদন করেছে তা কম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, তখন Passive Voice ব্যবহার করা হয়।

Voice পরিবর্তনের সময় কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়:

1. Object-কে Subject হিসেবে ব্যবহার করা: Passive Voice-এ object কে subject হিসেবে ব্যবহার করতে হবে।

Modals Auxiliary-এর ব্যবহার

2. Doer অজানা বা অপ্রয়োজনীয় হলে:
যদি কাজটি কে করেছে তা জানা না থাকে বা তা উল্লেখ করা জরুরি না হয়, passive voice উপযুক্ত। যেমন, “A mistake was made.” এখানে ভুলটি কে করেছে তা উল্লেখ করা হয়নি।

3. Formal Writing-এ Use করুন:

7. Use of ‘by’ in Passive Sentences:
